How to cast out demons from your life? Below are principles on how you can do it effectively. I’m sharing my personal story over this because I know it works.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”
(Ephesians 6:12)
Can faith and prayer really cast out demons?
Have you ever heard of demons? Most people have, and some also do not believe they exist. And yet, some are being possessed by the power of demons. I have dealt with demon possessions a few times in the past, in my own life. Whether you believe or not that they exist, this story will give you some insights and just how powerful they can be in possessing people in many different ways.
My Story
As poor as our living conditions were, there were many days when we just ate a little. So mom and dad would go off and catch fish from the river during the day. Sometimes they would only catch a few fish. Sometimes at night, they would go off and catch bats, close to the mouth of the caves. And we would cook the bats after the skins were removed and also cleaned the inner organs. And there were also times when mom and dad would catch frogs and do the same method of cleaning and cooking them. Yes, it is very gross! You are probably asking, how could anyone eat anything like that? Well, unfortunately for us it was a matter of survival.
So during those nights when mom and dad would go off to catch bats, I could not go with them. So I was left alone at home with my younger brother. It would take many hours before mom and dad would return home. And during the time of waiting for them at night I would be so terrified of the many weird noises outside, and especially when we were in the area where witchcraft practices were rampant. Being so afraid I would cover myself up with a blanket, and be shaking, thinking that a witch or a bad spirit would get me. I would be so afraid like that and eventually would fall asleep until mom and dad would get home.
My fear of bad spirits increased as I grew older. It was getting so bad that I would have a problem sleeping in the dark. There were nights when I would literally have nightmares. I was so possessed by the presence of the demon spirits that I could even sense them watching me while asleep. There were nights when it felt like I was being choked and I would be fighting for my life. The demon possession continued, even after I got married.
There were nights when it felt like the bed was being shaken while I was asleep. I sometimes have sleep paralysis. When my body was asleep, but my mind was awake, I could see my body lying on the bed trying to wake up from deep sleep. During this episode I would try to speak and rebuke the demonic spirits, but no words would come out of my mouth. Even in that state I knew that if I could not get myself to wake up, I would die of nightmares. Thankfully, by this time I had already become a Christian and knew the Word of God and its power.
Cast out demons with the Word of God
Knowing the Word of God and acknowledging the fact that without Him, we can do nothing. I realized that not only is the Word of God powerful, but also the name of Jesus is very powerful. When I was having those demonic attacks after I got married, I started to really apply the Word of God to fight against the enemy that had plagued my sleep at night. I would rebuke the demons using the Word of God like in the book of Psalms chapters 23, 91, 31 and so on. There are so many verses in the Bible that I had quoted to rebuke the demons. I would also pray and ask God’s presence and His angels to fight for me and help me.
Cast out demons in the name of Jesus
One thing that really stood out for me during this experience was when no words would come out of my mouth I would call upon the name of the Lord Jesus in my mind. And I would rebuke the demon’s attacks in Jesus’ name, and it would not be long and I would wake up from sleep paralysis. Literally, this happened several times, and I just kept doing what I knew now would work to fight against the enemy. Prayer and casting out demons in the name of Jesus and rebuking them with the truth of the Word of God works!
Take it from me, it works! But you have to have faith in God. You must surrender your life to the Lordship of Christ. You can not be double minded about it. Otherwise it will not work for you, to overcome those fears, or whatever type of attacks the demon is doing in your life. You have to be determined and be grounded, rooted with your faith in God. His presence, the Holy Spirit will dwell in your life if you allow Him and accept the eternal gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Put on the whole armor of God
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12 KJV). This scripture is telling us who our enemies are. But it does not stop there. Because even though they are powerful beings, we have a God who is greater and more powerful than all of them. We need to put our complete trust in the God who is sovereign and mighty to save. We need to equip ourselves and be ready to fight against our enemies who are the demons. We need to put on the whole armor of God and be ready for battle.
Here is the scripture for us to keep in mind, and take heed to what it says and apply this to our daily lives. For as much as we want for this world to be peaceful and free of struggles, it is just going to get worse. In the book of Ephesians 6:13-18 KJV it says, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
Today is the day for you to make that decision, to overcome your fears, and other things that are bothering you. We have the Word of God that we can trust. And I can fully testify to the truthfulness of God’s Word, because I am still here. God is faithful to keep His promises. It is for you to take advantage now, and receive it with a grateful heart knowing that God loves you so much to give a way to overcome your struggles.
