How to prevent suicides? This is my important thoughts about it.
THE URGENCY OF THE MESSAGE
As I grow older and witness so many things happening in this world, I can’t help but wonder if the Lord Jesus is coming back soon. I seemed to notice that people are growing more weary, and wandering in so many places trying to find peace, and joy to fulfill the desires of their hearts. But have they found that peace and joy anywhere in this world?
I guess at some point, some may have found it temporarily, but some never did arrive at that place. And for some of us who have heard and accepted the word of God in our hearts and believed it, have found that joy and peace eternal. I used to struggle so much spiritually, I felt no purpose, and I had no clear direction in my life. Not until I found the truth in the Word of God that I began to have hope, and see what lies ahead. Growing up in a very poor condition caused me to ask a lot of questions about life. Why are we here and for what purpose? Why are some people rich and some are poor? I used to think that life is so cruel, and unfair, because some are struggling so much to make it daily, and some people have plenty.
I used to think that rich people don’t have any problem. I was totally wrong! The older I get and knowing the Word of God the more I realize that it does not really matter whether you are rich or poor materially. We all have some kind of problem, and some people solve it with money, which is a temporary solution, and some need a very urgent and permanent solution spiritually. And that permanent solution can only be found in God and His Word.
What do I mean by urgent and permanent solution? Well, I’m talking about people dying everyday and a lot of those souls will probably end up in the lake of fire, in hell, because they have either not heard the Word of God for them or if they have, they missed the mark of accepting God’s offer of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ while they were still alive. For more than fifteen years of serving God through missions and telling people about Christ, these past few years have been more crucial for me.
As I am getting older I realized how short our lives really are here on earth. And then what’s next? There is eternity, and we should and must prepare now where we would spend eternity, heaven or hell. These past few years have been a spiritual challenge for me personally. Not only that I have seen God working in the lives of people but through me as well. There were nights in the past that I had been attacked by the devil, but there were also nights when God confirmed His promises in His Word to me. I can feel the urgency of His message to let people know of the hope He offered to us through Christ.
According to the World Health Organization, more than seven hundred thousand people die due to suicide every year. For every suicide there are many more people who attempt suicide. A prior suicide attempt is the single most important risk factor for suicide in the general population. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in fifteen to nineteen year olds. Seventy seven percent of global suicides occur in low and middle income countries. One of the reasons why I mentioned about suicide problem is because I had been in a situation when life was very hard. I attempted to cut my own life short when I was just a teenager. It happened when I did not have a personal relationship with God. I knew God, but I did not feel close to Him. I am very grateful to God for allowing me to come to my senses and put my faith and trust in Him before it was too late. I thank God that I am not one of the statistics who cut their lives short. Only God knows what happened to each of those souls who committed suicide. I am not trying to point out where those souls are spending their eternity. I’m simply trying to share my experience and hopefully and prayerfully give hope to those who are in despair and are losing hope here amongst us.
My heart is heavy, because I know how it feels going through the motion of depression. My heart is sad for our young generation knowing the difficulties they are facing in our world today. It is very heartbreaking to hear the news almost every other day of someone taking their own life or someone attempting to take it, or someone else taking it from them. Our young people are facing so much confusion around them, and sadly for some when it became too much, they ended their lives. This is very heavy in my heart, and I want to bring awareness to this as much as I can. We need to really take it very seriously, because it can happen to anyone. But it is even more common to the young people, because they are not aware of the hope God offers in His Word.
In my experience and observation, every decision we make, there are forces behind it. We either listen or pay attention to the good forces, or the bad ones. One thing I know now for certain is that our enemy, Satan, is a liar. He wants us to think and believe that by killing ourselves to escape problems would be the end of it. Not my friends. When I attempted to kill myself on one occasion, just a teenager, the devil whispered to my conscience to go ahead and kill myself to end all my problems. He had me thinking that it would be the solution to my entire problem, and then no more. It would have been great if it was really true, but it was not God in His truthfulness made sure that I would hear His voice in my conscience also. And letting me know that if I would kill myself, I would surely go to hell! When I was going through that whole ordeal, I surely did not want to end up in hell, and I surrendered my life to God.
And just to think that by cutting my life short here on earth and to spend my soul in hell for eternity was terrifying. No, I do not want that, and I do not want it for anyone. I want us to open our spiritual eyes, and realize this, our enemy is a liar. And even though we cannot see Him, we can fight back by putting our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus, whom God the Father sent for us.
Satan will oppress us if we allow him to. He will disguise himself as an angel of light, and give us false promises to solve our problems. He will make it sound easy to ruin our lives and cut it short if he could. But we need to remember this; Satan will never tell the truth and what the end result of our actions will be. God onthe other hand, is always faithful to make sure we will know the truth. God will speak to our hearts, minds and spirits, and His Word, of the consequences to our actions. And God is also faithful to give us a solution to our problems if we just ask Him and have faith and put our complete trust in Him.
People are dying everyday, if it is not due to suicide, it would be due to so many other reasons. The question now is what should we do about it, and how can someone have hope in the midst of struggles? I have asked myself this question many times; what can I do to help those who are hopeless? On my own I don’t have much to offer, but I have a very important message of hope and it is very urgent to get it out there. People must get ready, be prepared, and have hope for life eternal in heaven, and make sure to not end up in hell when we die.
Are you ready? Do you know the way? Do you have assurance that you will find yourself living in heaven one day? If you are not sure, I want to introduce you to the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. I want to introduce you to the One who truly loves you and cares for you. Right now He is our Savior and Redeemer for our sins. He is our Defender from the attacks and accusations from the enemy; He defends the weak and the oppressed. He is our Comforter who comforts us during our lonely and sad days, and very close to the brokenhearted. He is a Heavenly Father who is a Father to the fatherless, and who will never leave us nor forsake us.
The Savior of the world will soon come back. He will come back again, but not as a Savior anymore, but as a Judge. He will come to judge the wickedness of this world and He will bring justice. He will be back to gather those who belong to Him. Have hope and trust Him because He who promised is faithful.
