How To Be Blessed In Life

Obey God In His Word

How To Be Blessed In Life

Obey God in His Word. Many times in the Bible, God is calling His people to do the right thing to follow the ways of God. Yet, over and over again because of the carnal nature that people has, they always fall short and missed out the great things that God promises to bless them with if they would just obey.

He said, “if you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.” Exodus 15:26

The words above was promised to the Israelites during their Exodus from Egypt to the promised land. If the Israelites earnestly listen to and obeyed God, He would permit none of the diseases or plagues He brought on the Egyptians to afflict them. This promise shows that God desires to heal His people rather than to inflict illness and disease on them.

The same promise applies to us these days, if we will just listen to the Word of God and obey Him, He will protect us from any disease, from any attacks of the enemy.

Worship the Lord your God, and  His blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you”

Exodus 23:25

God connected the removal of sickness from among his people with their wholehearted devotion to Him and their separation from the ungodly influences around them. We should not conclude, however, that the sickness of an individual necessarily indicates he or she has conformed to the wicked ways of society. This passage does suggest that the worldliness of God’s people as a whole will cause God to withdraw a portion of His blessing and power from them, thus affecting even the righteous among God’s people.

Another passage below further emphasizes the Sovereignty of God. Even though He detests the sins of people, He is calling the Israelites and it includes all of us to repent and live. Sin is the downfall of mankind, but God is gracious to forgive and restore us to be the people that He want us to be.

How To Be Blessed In Life

Ezekiel 18:21-32

21″ But if a wicked man turns away from all the sins he has committed and keeps all My decrees and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die. 22None of the offenses he has committed will be remembered against him. Because of the righteous things he has done, he will live. 23Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares The Sovereign Lord. Rather Am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live? 24″But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits sin and does the same  detestable things the wicked man does will he live? None of the righteous things he has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness he is guilty of and because of the sins he has committed he will die. 25″Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just’. Hear, O house of Israel: Is my way unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust? 26If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits sin, he will die for it; because of the sin he has committed he will die. 27But if a wicked man turns away from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will save his life. 28Because he considers all the offenses he has committed and turns away from them, he will surely live; he will not die. 29Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not just. Are my ways unjust, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust? 30″Therefore O house of Israel, I will judge you,  each one according to his ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourself of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, O house of Israel? 32For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!

It is so clear  what the Word of God said about a wicked man who turns away from his sin. God promises salvation to any of the wicked who choose to forsake their sins and turn to God. No one is forced to follow the sins of his or her family. God desires to bring each sinner into fellowship with Himself and is never pleased when a wicked person dies in sin.

The righteous who trust in God and follow his way must not think they are eternally secure if they later become unfaithful and rebellious against God.  Such people also will die, just like the one who has always lived in sin.

We need to be mindful of the Word of God and be willing to obey them if we want our lives to be blessed. Obey God and our lives will be blessed in so many ways. Disobey and it will result in our own destruction. God never want any of us to die from our rebellious ways. He is still pleading with us to repent and live!

What is your response to God’s plea? It’s up to you. But I urge you to obey God in His Word. You will be amazed at how blessed your life will be. Take it from me, I have been so overwhelmed by the faithfulness of God. Not that I am perfect but I keep doing my best to obey God and do the right thing. My life is beyond blessed, because God is faithful in keeping His Word. I would not be here writing this article if it were not for the faithfulness of God in my life.

  1. This message is beautifully written Allison. This reminds us that God is really for us if we only decide to surrender to his will for our lives. I think sometimes people think God’s plan will make them look foolish but in actual fact whatever he does if for our good as it says in Jeremiah 29:11.
