A lot of times we dismissed hobbies as just being a leisure time to unwind ourselves from the busy life. But don’t you know that having a hobby that you are passionate about doing not only allows you to escape from the chaos of the world around you? But it will also promote stimulation in your brain function and reduce the risk of depression and dementia?
What is a hobby? It is an activity done regularly in one’s leisure time for pleasure. It is a pastime, sideline, diversion, avocation, enthusiasm, recreation, relaxation, entertainment and amusement. Activities that you like to do for yourself and with family or friends.
Why is it important to have a hobby? Hobbies gives you an opportunity to enhance your life and living life more enjoyable. It allows you to escape from the things that are bothering you. It allows you distress yourself while remaining mentally productive. It also promotes better health and may lower the risk of having a high blood pressure and other diseases.
Hobbies are important to have a productive life. It does not only helps you emotionally and mentally but it also allows you to develop more passion for doing other things in life.
Hobbies can be turn into a sideline career. As you enjoy doing your hobby you become an expert in that field, therefore opens an opportunity for a career. For example if your hobby is into writing, then you can do blogging, transcribing, freelance writing… Or if your hobby is into singing I bet you as you develop your nice voice you will be invited to different events that would love to have your singing voice to entertain them. Or you can do a voice over jobs which allows you to read someone’s book over for an audio book. Or if you are like me who also loves gardening, I have turned my passion for gardening into a small business, selling plants. There are so many ways that you can turn your hobby into a career. But the main thing is that whatever you are passionate about doing, it can be really productive and have a lot of good benefits to your well-being.
So what are your hobbies friends? What are the things you love doing? Can you think of some ways to develop that hobby to a possible career someday? Even if you are not thinking of turning your hobby into a career keep it up and stay productive physically and mentally. If you don’t know what your hobby is start by thinking of the things you like doing and develop that. It might be fishing, or walking, reading, playing musical instruments, playing sports and the list goes on and on.
