Do you know your purpose

Do you know your purpose?

Have you ever asked yourself why there is so much pain and hurt in this world? Not only that there is physical pain but emotional, and mental pain? All of this pain can have an adverse effect on our spiritual being. It can either draw us closer to God or farther away from Him. It can make us put our faith and trust in God or blame Him for all the pain we’ve been through and going through.

All of the response to our pain is a choice. We can choose to face it with a positive attitude or a negative one. We have to make a choice one way or the other, if we don’t then we would stop living, and that can have a catastrophic result on ourselves and our loved ones. In this book I want to encourage you that God does want us to make the right decision, a decision that will give life to our situations. A decision that will help us draw closer to God. A decision that ceases to  blame ourselves or others for our pain. A decision that will have an eternal impact

Understanding God’s Purpose at the Beginning

In the beginning God intended for us to have a beautiful life, free of any pain or sickness and even death. If we read in the Bible, Adam and Eve did enjoy living in the paradise God created for them. God put the “tree of life” (Genesis 3:22) and the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” (Genesis 2:17) as well as “the fig tree” (Genesis 3:7). I will be sharing the symbolism and significance of each tree and their purpose.

The “tree of life” stands as a symbol of God’s life–giving presence and the fullness of eternal life available in God. The “tree of life” was probably intended to make physical death impossible. It is related to eternal life. Pay attention to what the word of God said in (Genesis 3:22 NIV – And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever”). This “tree of life” is also mentioned in the book of (Revelation 2:7 NIV – “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God”).

Do you know who you are before the eyes of God?

The privilege that Adam and Eve had was broken when they have sinned against God by disobeying His command to not eat the fruit from the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” (Genesis 2:16). God created humans as moral beings with the ability to choose freely to love and obey their Creator, or to disobey Him and rebel against His will. From the beginning of history the human race has been bound to God through belief in and obedience to His word as absolute truth.

Life through faith and obedience is presented as the governing principle in Adam’s relationship to God in Eden. Adam was warned that he would die if he transgressed God’s will and partook of the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil”. This threat of death had to be accepted by faith based on what God said, since Adam had not yet seen human death.

God’s command was given to Adam as a moral test. It placed before him a conscious, deliberate choice to believe and obey, or to disbelieve and disobey his Creator’s will. As long as Adam believed God’s word and obeyed, he would continue in eternal life and in blessed fellowship with God. If he sinned by disobeying, he would reap moral disaster and a harvest of death.

Heart to heart fellowship

God’s plan and purpose was to have a heart to heart fellowship with Adam and Eve. God created humans in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26, 27). On the basis of this image, they could respond to and have fellowship with God and uniquely reflect His love, glory and holiness. They were to do so by knowing God and obeying Him (Genesis 2:15–17). They possessed a moral likeness to God, for they were sinless and holy, possessing wisdom, a heart of love and the will to do right. They lived in a personal fellowship with God that involved moral obedience and intimate communion. When Adam and Eve sinned their moral likeness to God was corrupted (Genesis 6:5). Adam and Eve possessed a natural likeness to God. They were created personal beings with spirit, mind, emotions, self–consciousness and power of choice.

Prayer is the key to heaven to have fellowship with God

In some sense man and woman’s physical makeup is in God’s image in a way not true of animals. God gave to human beings the image in which he was to appear visibly to them (Genesis 18:1–2) and the form that His Son would one day assume (Luke 1:35; Philippians 2:7; Hebrews 10:5). That human beings were made in the image of God does not mean they are divine. They have been created on a lower order and are dependent on God (Psalm 8:5). All human life is derived initially from Adam and Even (Genesis 3:20; Romans 5:12).

Charged with being fruitful

Man and woman were charged with being fruitful and ruling over the earth and animal kingdom. They were created to form family relationships. This stated purpose of God in creation indicates that He considers a Godly family and the raising of children of utmost priority in the world. God expected them to consecrate all things in the earth to Him and to manage it in a God–glorifying way, fulfilling the divine purpose.

God ordained for us to have a family according to His standard

The future of the earth was placed under their dominion. When they sinned, they brought ruin, futility and suffering to God’s creation. It is the work of Jesus Christ alone to restore the earth to its perfect place and function at His coming at the end of this age.
